Following the overwhelming success of last year’s event, we are delighted to announce the return of the KMC Legal Annual Charity Ball — an elegant evening dedicated to raising funds for two charities that hold deep meaning for our team and community.

The James Bulger Memorial Trust
Founded by Denise Fergus in memory of her son James, the Trust supports young people who have been affected by crime, bullying, bereavement, or trauma. The charity provides practical help, respite breaks, confidence-building activities, and advocates for change in areas that impact vulnerable children and families. Its work is compassionate and courageous, transforming tragedy into meaningful support for others.
We are honoured to announce that Denise Fergus and her husband, Stuart Fergus, will attend this year’s event as our Guests of Honour. The work they continue to do in James’s name and their unwavering campaign for justice strongly reflect our values at KMC Legal — standing up for the vulnerable and supporting those most in need.
Birmingham Children’s Hospital Charity
One of the UK’s leading specialist paediatric centres, Birmingham Children’s Hospital delivers critical care to over 90,000 children and families annually. Their ongoing commitment to pioneering treatments, family support, and child-centred care makes an enormous difference to the lives of so many.

This year, we’ve chosen a new venue — The Boathouse at Aston Marina — to help reduce costs and maximise the amount raised for both charities. Every decision has been made with impact in mind, and we believe this event will once again bring people together to make a real difference.

KMC partnered with the Council to Succeed & Grow!
Succeed & Grow is a Staffordshire County Council initiative designed to support rural businesses by providing free, high-quality workshops and seminars.
These fully-funded sessions focus on equipping entrepreneurs and small business owners with the knowledge and tools needed to thrive in an ever-changing business environment. Covering topics such as legal compliance, effective marketing strategies and communication skills, the programme is tailored to help businesses overcome challenges and achieve sustainable growth.
Since its launch, Succeed & Grow has successfully hosted several seminars, webinars and workshops, benefiting rural businesses across Staffordshire. Each event has provided practical advice, expert insights and valuable networking opportunities provided. We are proud to continue supporting local businesses on their journey to success.

KMC Legal & Finance feature in Staffordshire County Council’s ‘Women in Business’
A productive morning for lady entrepreneurs was enjoyed at Staffordshire County Council’s ‘Women in Business’ held at Branston Golf and Country Club on 20th March 2025.
Staffordshire women from all walks of life who have found a niche in the market showcased their businesses with trade stands at a sold-out event. As the first stand to be seen by visitors, KMC Legal and Finance’s eye-catching display drew plenty of interest.
A series of inspirational talks from successful women in business relayed their experiences and how they overcame any problems, getting the message across with wit and humour alongside applying confidence in yourself and your product. Lunch and more networking concluded the morning’s event, with many going away determined and inspired.

On Friday, 1st November 2024, we hosted an unforgettable evening of elegance and entertainment at the KMC Burlesque Charity Ball, at Sandon Hall. This memorable event was dedicated to supporting Birmingham Children’s Hospital and we were delighted to see such a wonderful turnout from our friends, clients, colleagues and supporters.
This year’s KMC Charity Ball was an extraordinary affair filled with glamour, live performances and incredible generosity. Guests arrived to a warm welcome with a Prosecco reception and live music from Annie Mai, setting the stage for a lively and engaging evening. As the night unfolded, attendees were treated to a gourmet four-course dinner, complemented by a saxophone performance that enhanced the ambiance of the beautifully decorated hall. The event included captivating burlesque performances and a live band, adding a unique and artistic flair that truly made the evening stand out.
A dedicated casino lounge offered guests a chance to try their luck, with tables set for classic games. Adding to the thrill, a charity raffle and a highly anticipated auction featured exclusive prizes generously donated by local businesses and supporters.
The KMC Legal & Finance team is proud to have hosted such a successful event. We are immensely grateful to everyone who attended, donated, and supported this worthy cause.

KMC's Charity Ball 2024 helped to raise thousands of pounds with every penny going directly to Birmingham Children’s Hospital to aid in their mission of providing life-changing care for children and their families.
Your contributions and goodwill have made a significant impact. The hospital is currently focused on enhancing its facilities, including improving the front entrance to create a more welcoming and comforting environment for children and parents alike.

KMC Legal’s Bake-Off: Rising to the Challenge for Comic Relief
On Red Nose Day 2024, KMC Legal & Finance proved that when it comes to supporting good causes, we’re no half-baked operation. With a spread that included everything from Easter Egg cheesecake to Lucy Allen’s winning mini-egg brownie masterpiece, we demonstrated that our talents extend far beyond the legal arena.
Judged on taste, presentation, and complexity, our Charity Bake-Off for Comic Relief was a testament to our team’s creativity and spirit of generosity. Lucy, our head of Civil Litigation, whisked away the Best Baker Award.
Her victory, however, was merely the icing on the cake. The real win was the funds raised, which directly contributed to providing over 200 meals for children and families in need.

Embracing Team Spirit Beyond the Courtroom
KMC Legal ventured into new territory for its latest work social event, Houdini's Escape Room Experience. This initiative not only marked a refreshing change from the usual corporate gatherings but also highlighted the firm's innovative approach to fostering teamwork and camaraderie among its esteemed staff. The KMC Legal team was divided into two groups, each tackling a different escape room that promised an adventure almost as thrilling as their casework.
Unlocking Success: Escaping the Conventional Team Build
One team unraveled the mysteries of the chilling Room 13, cracking a murder case with a comfortable 12 minutes to spare, while their counterparts narrowly dodged the clutches of a harrowing prison officer to escape from Alcatraz, triumphing with a mere 45 seconds left on the clock. The team's victory has led KMC Legal to incorporate unconventional team-building activities as a regular part of their efforts to foster a positive and collaborative workplace culture.

A Glitzy Charity Ball Supporting Birmingham Children's Hospital
The team at KMC Legal & Finance organised this event with the aim of raising funds to help the hospital continue its invaluable work. As you may already know, Birmingham Children's Hospital has been a beacon of hope and healing for countless children and families in our community. Their unwavering dedication to providing top-notch medical care, support and comfort to children facing health challenges is nothing short of inspiring.
Last year's exclusive Charity Ball brought together experts and professionals from various fields to support this remarkable cause. The event was a celebration of unity and compassion, aimed at making a significant impact on the lives of these brave children.
This event raised over £3,000 but we are excited to announce that we will be doing it all again in 2024! This year's Charity Ball promises to be even bigger with more opportunities for your generosity to shine. We are deeply grateful for any help and support you can provide.

Sponsorship of former Boxing World Champion Richie Woodhall's Boxing Academy
KMC Legal & Finance has partnered up with No5 Barristers Chambers in Birmingham, in order to provide sponsorship to the Academy.
The academy, co-founded by Telford’s Richie Woodhall over 10 years ago, is developing National champions. It is a community club and there is a great community spirit within the academy. This provides an opportunity to the young people of Telford helping to develop focused and happy individuals.
Landed on our feet
No Boundary to our Success
Following our client seeking to sell some of his agricultural land to a developer, it became apparent that the professionals who had previously dealt with the registration of the boundary at HM Land Registry incorrectly dealt with the matter. Despite efforts to resolve with the adjacent land owner, our client was left heavily disadvantaged, losing tens of thousands of pounds.
Following vast correspondence, an early settlement was achieved for our client with those who registered the land, and a contribution to his legal fees.
Our client was ecstatic with the prompt settlement and payment.
Olympic heights
KMC Legal supporting Olympic Show Jumping Star Geoff Billington
Geoff Billington is a British showjumping medal winner who has represented Great Britain on a number of occasions including during the European and World Championships and at the Olympics.
He continues to produce horses to the highest level together with his wife Sarah and we look forward to supporting them in their continued success.
